Where to find a freelance web designer or agency
Search for the service alongside your business type or location: ‘web design for clinics’, ‘fixed-price small business website’ or ‘web designer Tarragona’. If remote work suits you, widen the search and confirm the provider works online. For an English-speaking business in Spain, check the working language as well. When another business recommends someone, ask what they built, when and how the handover went.
Sortlist, Zaask, Clutch and Proveedores.com list providers and professional profiles. Use them to find candidates and cross-check information. Before relying on a prominent listing or a score, check whether it is advertising, how many reviews support it and what each review actually describes. Then visit the provider's own site to see current services and work.
A freelancer may let you speak directly to the person building the site. An agency may divide design, content and development between several people. In either case, ask who does the work and who answers during the project. The business label alone does not settle that question.
Give every provider the same website brief
Start with what visitors should be able to do: understand your services, call, request a quote, book or buy. State what content you have and what the provider must create. If a website already exists, include the URL and explain what you want to keep. Repairing or finishing it may be enough.
Send this outline to each candidate, replacing the fields with your information. Ask them to flag unanswered questions so you can compare quotes for the same website.
- Business and customers: what we do and who we serve.
- Main action: what visitors need to be able to do.
- Pages, languages and features required now.
- Existing text, photos, domain and website.
- Content we want to edit ourselves later.
- Preferred date and available budget, if decided.
- Scope, exclusions, revisions, tax treatment, ongoing fees and handover terms.
Check the portfolio beyond the screenshot
Open two or three examples on your phone. Try to find a service, a price where relevant and the contact route. Check that links lead where they promise. You can review that journey without sending test bookings or enquiries to another business.
Ask what the provider actually contributed: design, development, copy, maintenance or a specific intervention. A demo shows visual judgement and the features presented. A live client project shows a site in use. Distinguish them; neither alone proves sales or SEO results.
For an essential feature, ask to see it working before you hire. If you need to update a menu or catalogue, ask to see the editing process and its limits. A screenshot of the finished page does not answer that question.
Compare website costs and ownership
‘From 300 €’ does not describe a defined website. Ask how many pages and revisions are included, who provides content and which features will be delivered. Add construction, subscriptions and external costs for the first year and the next. Confirm taxes, domain renewal, hosting, email and licences. Leave undefined costs marked as outstanding.
Agree in writing who owns the domain and which accounts you control. cdmon distinguishes the registrant from administrative and technical contacts: managing a domain does not automatically make someone its owner. Check the registrant details in your registrar account.
Ask what happens when maintenance ends or you change provider: what can move, what files and data you receive and which features depend on a subscription. That lets you compare an upfront payment with a monthly offer without assuming identical handovers.

Ask what ‘SEO included’ actually covers
It might mean initial titles, indexing and structure. It might also cover writing, search research or continuing visibility work. Ask for concrete deliverables, how they will be checked and what is excluded. A phrase in a quote is not enough to establish an ongoing campaign.
Google recommends asking for past work, references and an explanation of proposed changes and measurement. It also says nobody can guarantee a number-one ranking. If an offer makes that promise, ask which work it will deliver and distinguish that from a search position it cannot control.
What should an ecommerce website package include?
An online store package should define the catalogue to load, the buying process and what you can manage afterwards. Ask how many products and variants are included, who prepares their text and images and how orders and stock are managed. Confirm who sets up payments, shipping and taxes, and which external services you must purchase.
Before choosing, request a demonstration of both the dashboard and the purchase journey. Agree the handover checks: a test order, confirmation, shipping charge and subsequent order management. Any excluded integration or feature should be listed as outstanding or quoted separately.
At Webs del Camp, we define each store's features and scope before setting its price. You can check what the project includes and what your business needs to supply.
Can I hire a web designer in another city or country?
Yes, when the provider works remotely and you can prepare and review the project online. Confirm your main contact, working language, communication channels and how each delivery is approved. The schedule should also show when you need to provide copy, images or access.
Assess work, scope and handover using the same criteria as for a nearby provider. If part of the project requires travel, on-site photography or a meeting at your business, agree it separately: remote work does not make those services part of the price.
Agree how you will approve the website before paying
Define the contact person, timetable, revisions and materials needed to start. Ask how requests that change the scope will be handled. At handover, check the mobile site, contact destinations, agreed editing access and account delivery. On your own site, send a test form and confirm it reaches you.
We work from Tarragona, wherever your business is. Check Webs del Camp's prices and scope before contacting us, explore the portfolio and put our proposal in the same comparison. We combine the features each project needs and agree a fixed price for that scope. If you already have a website, send its address so we can assess the work required.
